Eseohe Arhebamen was born in Zaria, Nigeria, Afrika. Since immigrating to the United States, Eseohe has won many awards for her artworks. She was recipient of an InsideOut Residency, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Her current performance artwork is a culmination of visual, linguistic and aural study that has led to a desire for communication without barriers of speech. Eseohe asks, “How to be Word?”
Against the tide of growing global, socioeconomic inequalities and Wars of Words, Eseohe’s performance artwork is a reclamation of primitiveness and the body. Accessible through Ankoku-Butoh, “The Dance of Darkness”, primitiveness teaches us unity with all existence.
